India is a diverse country which serves the land for various cultures, languages, arts, craft and music. Its ground is rich with numerous mythologies and folklores. Though the world’s interest in India revolves largely around its colourful culture, but there are also some incredible unexplained mysteries that remain unsolved, irrespective of the progress of science and technology. And also there are many stories that came with time, terrified many people in certain regions of India and later proved as fake. Among those fake and real mysteries some are known to us but some are still a new thing for many.
Lets us give a quick look to all those incredible stories:
1. The Jodhpur story
On December 18, 2012, residents of Jodhpur heard a deafening sound that lasted for quite few hours. The nearby army camp denied any hand in the incident, it is still a mystery to date – the incident however, did not reach any logical conclusion.
2. The Milk Miracle
One morning in 1995 surprised many people at the temple as the idols had uddenly started drinking milk. The incident led to widespread hysteria around the country and temples were thronged by devotees that day. However, the madness just lasted for a day when the idols stopped drinking milk.
3. Muhnochwa in Varanasi
In July 2002, a mysterious object named ‘Muhnochwa’ spread terror in the rural areas of Mirzapur and also in some parts of Varanasi. The creature/object was seen as flying with green and red lights and gave electric shocks to people who tried to touch it! Two young boys even committed suicide in fear, till the incident died a natural death.
4. Braid chopping story
This happened just few months ago in the state of Haryana. People were gripped in fear of a mysterious braid cutter. Women in Haryana and parts of Delhi reported that they saw a hazy figure and then they used to lose conscious, when they woke up they could see their braids chopped off. The police could not find anything conclusive, but women, mostly from rural areas, lived in fear for a long time. Some claimed that they did it by themselves to earn some money from government and come on media.
5. Vampires in Tamil Nadu
In 2012, in the village of Gundalapatti, Tamil Nadu, people lived in fear and refused to leave their homes post sunset saying that there lived vampires in the village, owing to the sudden killing of their cattle. The rumours of course died down a natural death and the police cited the killings as the work of a wild animal.
6. The alien cave paintings of Charama
In the caves near Bastar in Chattisgarh, archaeologist J.R. Bhagat discovered some paintings depicting human like figures and flying discs. The people in the village say that the area is frequently inhabited by aliens who kidnap people. Although scientists have rubbished their theory, but it is also true that no conclusive origin of the paintings was found.
While the above stories were overhyped unnecessarily and there in some kind of fakeness, but some stories also exits that makes people believe in them.
7. The cursed village of Kuldhara
Kuldhara in Jaisalmer is a 500 years old village and was inhabited by approx 1500 residents. One dark night suddenly the residents abandoned their homes. The strange thing is that no one knows where they went. Some say that they left as they were unable to bear the torment of government taxation. People believe that while leaving the residents cursed the area and hence no one has since settled in this place. According to sayings, anyone who has ever tried to live in this cursed village has died brutally. The village is said to be haunted and paranormal investigators have experienced strange events around the cursed area.
8. Kodhini : The twin village of Kerala
This tiny village witnesses a unique phenomenon. Huge amount of twins are there. In a population of just 2000 people, there are 200 sets of twins. While Scientists are still trying to figure out the reason for this improbable trait, a few guesses are genetics and food habit of people which causes twin embryos to fertilize in an expecting mother.
9. The rust-free iron pillar at Qutb Minar
It is one of the India’s most important historical monuments. It has a very long iron pillar that has remained 99% resistant to corrosion over the past 1,600 years. Yes it has survived all sorts of weather conditions. Scientists are still surprised and wonder how such advancement could take place so many years ago.
10. The man who’s lived without food and water for 70 years
Prahlad Jani is a huge devotee of the goddess Ambaand is said to not have consumed any food and water since 1940. Also scientists once kept him under observation for 15 days and even during that time; he did not ate or drank anything. Now this is miracle, how is he surviving till today? Additionally there are also no visible signs of fatigue or dehydration.
11. The story of NINE MEN
During the era of great emperor Ashoka in 273 BC, a powerful secret society of nine members was found after the terrible battle. Each of the nine members were given a speciall book of knowledge, ranging from alchemy to microbiology. According to history those men held many powerful secrets including that of antigravity and even time travel. It is said that the martial arts of judo originated from the leaks of one of the books. Also it is said that those nine men were not all Indians.
12. The magnetic hill of Ladakh
Here there is something called a magnetic hill. Any car parked on top of the hill will roll up the steep road on its own, moving at upto 20 kilometers per hour speeds. This supernatural-phenomenon is called the “Himalayan wonder”. People from around the world go there to witness nature’s hidden mystery. The secret behind the magnetic pull is basically an optical illusion created by the peculiar geography of the area.
13. The shrine of Bullet Baba
In 1991, a biker by the name of Om Banna died while riding near Jodhpur. His bike was towed away to the nearby police station, but in the morning, it was found to be at the exact same spot of the accident! After multiple futile attempts to move the bike, the locals marked the area as a shrine, known as Bullet Baba, a place that supposedly helps troubled travellers find their way.
14. The curious case of Shanti Devi
She was born in 1926 in Delhi. She could recall every detail of her past life from the age of 4. She claimed that she was the reincarnation of a woman from a town 145 kms away and had died a few years back after giving birth to a son. When the police started putting piece by piece together and they found all the details matching. Now these kinds of case are usually only seen in movies.
15. The Kongka La Pass in Ladakh
This place is located in Himalayas. It is basically a no man’s land between the India-China borders. Both countries keep a watch over it but neither patrols it or occupies it. According to some people, there are UFOs travelling in and out the area due to the lack of human interference. It’s even reported that aliens have built underground base in that area. It is also said that there is a series of huge flying saucers hidden underground along that Pass.
16. Yeti in Himalayas
It is believed that there have been clear signs of a Yeti in the Himalayan region. The debate goes on and on between those who believe in it and those who don’t. Some say that it saved their life while some say that it was definitely scary.
