The Dallas Total Home & Gift Market will now be the first show of 2020 with Dallas Market Center shifting its show dates earlier, just prior to the new dates set by the Atlanta International Home Furnishings & Gift Show.
AmericasMart has traditionally been the first show in January. For 2020, however, the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market will come first running Jan. 8-14, 2020. Lightovation will take place Jan. 8-12, 2020 and the Apparel & Accessories Market from Jan. 15-18. Market dates after 2020 have not yet been announced.
Dallas Market Center said the date change follows a move by AmericasMart, which shifted its dates a week later and on top of the dates previously announced by Dallas Market Center. AmericasMart Atlanta is currently scheduled to host its Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market from Jan. 14-21, 2020. After discussing the scheduling conflict with key customers, including sales representatives, exhibitors and retailers, DMC said it decided to shift the dates earlier in January, according to a statement.
“We strive to set market dates well in advance and clear of any other major shows to maximize business opportunities for buyers, exhibitors and sales representatives,” said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “Our goal is to work together as a business community for the betterment of the customers we serve and to provide an efficient and inspiring experience. One of our unique advantages is that we hold multiple markets during the month of January so buyers may take full advantage of their sourcing trip, including discovering new products and meeting with company principals.”
The new dates also provide retailers with first access to in-stock merchandise so they may refill depleted inventories. They also offer opportunities for buyers to explore new product categories throughout the entire run of multiple January markets taking place over an 11-day period.
