There is always a need for blood donors for people and for dogs and cats.
Mia, a great dane, has donated bloood six times in her three years. The last time she saved the life of Jenna, a Husky, who suffered from a massive hemorrhage after having six puppies. Doctor Jemma Postel said, “Mia’s a champion. She’s been a hero numerous times at the vet clinic.”
Veterinarians in Australia and around the world must have a list of dog and cat blood donors they can count on.
C.C. and Turbo have not donated blood yet, but they are on the donor list. Dog owner, Lachie Beaver-Reis said, “I reckon my dogs are heroes because they save the lives of other dogs when they need it.”
The dogs don’t have capes , but they are super heroes. “Well we don’t have enough really. We have about six dogs on our donation list at the moment. A lot of those are owned by our vets here at the vet practice. It certainly does save lives, without a doubt, and saving a dog’s life is a good day,” said Postel.
