Denim has been around for as long as one can remember. What was once a classic symbol of Americans is now a worldwide phenomenon. It is not just difficult but impossible to find a fabric or garment as widely loved and embraced as denim. It has become a necessity rather than just another article in the closet. From models to cowboys to farmers, everyone is found wearing them. Few reasons why it’s such a rage and must be in your closet are as follows:
1. It’s iconic/classic
Denim is associated with not just one group of individuals; it covers them all. It has had its moments in all generations in the past. It is more like a classic piece in our era. The classic duo of a white t-shirt along with a pair of jeans never goes out of style. This duo has not just been seen on the streets as the model off street look but have graced multiple Vogue Covers in the past as well.
2. It’s versatile
In my opinion, no fabric is as versatile as denim. You can dress it up; you can dress it down. It’s quite impossible to go wrong with denim.
Styling a pair of jeans is as easy as ABC. You can throw on a graphic tee, tuck it in, wear tube hoops and well, that’s the perfect look to hit the mall in. If you want to dress it up, wear a button down blouse in say, chiffon or even silk, with a subtle makeup, bold lip and bam! You’re all set for a dinner date. Moreover, jeans can also be worn to office. Pairing it with a white blouse and a blazer will give you a put together look without looking too casual.
Alongside a pair of jeans, denim is also available in form of jackets. Jeans Jackets are a staple when it comes to summer. If you live in place like the NYC which can get a little chilly in the evening, denim jackets will save you from the cold that might follow in its absence. It will add a great touch to your whole outfit as well as being fairly useful. With that, the recent trend, supermodels like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner rock the denim on denim trend. So now, you can even pair a denim pants with a denim top and feel like 10/10.
3. It doesn’t need to be washed too much
Denim is not just classic and versatile as hell but is also extremely convenient. They can be worn multiple times before a wash would be due. This means you can save up all your time and money which is otherwise spent on laundry. This might sound unhygienic but they don’t need to be washed too often. Usually, garments become useless after say, they get washed 5 times but denim begs to differ. They can last you a lifetime. The color might fade a little, but guess what? That means you have an entirely new pair to rock the streets in because denim in any shade is totally in.
4. It’s comfortable for the down days/ easy
As much as we want to stay in our sweats, let’s face it it’s not possible. Sweat pants are a dream come true but sadly, they are not as widely accepted as jeans is. So our next best option is the mom jeans which is available literally everywhere with various price tags. These mom jeans are loose and as comfortable as it gets and can be paired with almost anything without making you look homeless. They will give you a chic look without making you too hot during summers.
Few style inspirations for mom jeans are: Hailey Baldwin, Taylor Hill and if you throw it back a little, Kate Moss, Niomi Campbell etc.
5. They look cooler distressed, unlike people
As I mentioned before, it is pretty difficult to go wrong with denim. It just isn’t possible. They look cool as new and they look cool as an old faded pair.
The new trend, to our liking, is that of distressed jeans. These sorts of jeans are torn from the knees and other areas. As daunting as it may sound to your grandmother, they look really hip and fashionable. This style has been around for a while now and such pairs can be found all across the board as well. Also, you can make your own pair. All you’ll need for it is a pair of jeans with a pair of scissors and you’re good to go.
